Liturgy - Service Opportunities in the Parish
“And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ” (Eph. 4:11-12).
The parish staff at San Pedro Catholic Church is focused on equipping, preparing, training and empowering you for the work of ministry. Together we will build up the Body of Christ in San Pedro.
Altar Servers
Altar servers assist the priests and deacons in the celebration of the Eucharist. Formation for servers normally takes place in the spring and fall of each year.
Requirements
- This ministry is open to all young people who have received their First Communion.
- A training session is required.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) assist the priest in offering to the faithful the greatest gift that God can give us, namely, His Son in the Eucharist.
Requirements
- Those interested must be registered parishioners, have received the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation, and be at least of high school age.
- They must have completed Friends 101 and committed to complete Friends 201-401.
- New EMHC must also attend a training session.
- Other diocesan requirements are possible.

Communion to the Sick
Communion to the Sick brings the Eucharist to the homebound. This ministry also has weekly Communion services and leads the rosary in nursing homes. Volunteers are parishioners who are practicing, confirmed Catholics. Compassion, patience, and consistency are crucial for this ministry.
Requirements
- Those interested must be registered parishioners, have received the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation, and be at least of high school age.
- Training class, mentorship, and background check are required.
- They must also have completed Friends 101 and committed to complete Friends 201-401.

Lectors of God’s Word
These men and women have the incredible opportunity to lend their voice to God to proclaim the Scriptures at Mass.
Requirements
- Those interested must be registered parishioners, have received the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation, and be at least of high school age.
- A one-time training is required.
- And they must have completed Friends 101 and committed to complete Friends 201-401.

The Lord's Laundry
Members of this ministry contribute to our liturgical celebrations by washing and ironing the linens used at Mass.
Requirements
- Those interested must be registered parishioners, have received the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation, and be at least of high school age.

- And they must have completed Friends 101 and committed to complete Friends 201-401.

Ministers of Hospitality
We aspire to be a radically hospitable parish. These men and women help make this a reality. This is a wonderful ministry for parents with children to get involved in.

Sacristans
These men and women have the opportunity to care for and prepare the sacred vessels used at Mass.
Requirements
- Those interested must be registered parishioners, have received the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation, and be at least of high school age.

- And they must have completed Friends 101 and committed to complete Friends 201-401.
Worship Tech
The Worship Tech Team operates the projector and live stream cameras at Mass and other liturgical events. Training is provided, some degree of comfort with technology and the liturgy is expected.

Wedding Coordinators
These volunteers help a bride and groom and their guests to celebrate a beautiful and reverent wedding ceremony. They lead all wedding rehearsals and assist the priest or deacon on the day of the wedding.

- And they must have completed Friends 101 and committed to complete Friends 201-401.
Doris Lina Hoare
Music
These volunteers lead the music for worship at the Mass and other events. While open to all people who are comfortable and talented enough to sing praise to the Lord. Our expectation is that these men and women are not only excellent singers and musicians but, more importantly, intentional disciples of Jesus. The ability to read music and a good ear are required.
Choir Practice is at 5pm on Thursdays.
